Summer Diary Day 56: Helping

Dear summer diary,
Today's summer event didn't last very long. The girls literally helped out for a few minutes in the painting of our church activity room. There was a lot of busy-ness going on & focused adults on the loose, so the wee ones didn't get to participate much. But tomorrow is another day & another coat of paint! I'll see if I can't sneak another brush or roller into their hands.

It's fun to get together with friends & accomplish something good. Making something not-so-pretty into something fantastic! And it's nice when your kids want to be a part of it too.

We've got big dreams for this once dreary white room. We hope to fill it with lots of youth & families & make it into a welcoming place for things like: hanging out after sports events (or anytime, really!), maybe an occasional open-mic night, a temporary coffeehouse & place to chill on couches & bistro tables with board games, a place to play video games & listen to music, family dinners, bible studies, etc.

This shade of Sweet Georgia Brown is only just the beginning...

We were up after midnight painting. And these are not the best pictures, but here is a peek at the "BEFORE"...

...& a glance after the first coat of paint.

We'll be at it again tomorrow, so I best be gettin' some shut eye. I am exhausted beyond exhausted. Me & my cranky self are going to bed...

I'm so thankful for the {few} friends that helped!

Nikki
