Remember This?

The birthday party's over folks.....it's time to get back to work! Thanks for all the well wishes and comments...they make a 40-ish-year-old gal feel a little better about birthdays!!
Remember this old desk/table I constructed from an old door and some very cool old table legs? Remember how I may have exaggerated just a wee bit about it weighing a ton? Well, it still does, but it's gotten a fresh face lift!

After the dust settled from Junk Fest, I got my trusty sander out and went to town, creating more dust and peeling back layers of black and brown, and even that ugly fleshy peach color it was originally. Then came the Kilz spray primer, which was a must for getting in those curvy grooves on the legs. A light hand sanding after that dried, then a coat of flat white paint. A little more sanding for a slightly distressed look, then the medium walnut stain. Can't remember the name, some off brand with the finish built right in. Great stuff! Paint it on, wipe it off (most of it). A trip to the local hardware store and 5 pieces of plexi-glass later, we're in business!

Here it is in it's new home in my sewing/craft room. Of course, I've already got so much stuff on the table, there's hardly room to work!

I had an old footboard left over from another project that is finding a new life as a bulletin board. A little sanding, white paint, stain and toile fabric is all that required and there she sits on the new desk.

Not your typical desk/craft table...but it works for me!

I'm linking this to Donna's Saturday Night Special, over at Funky Junk Interiors....check it out!!!
