*You can also play Old Maid using these cards. Have Judas be the “Old Maid” card. Show the children the “Judas” card and put in the middle of the table for all to see. Put the other Judas card in the deck and shuffle the cards.

Old Maid

Deal the cards around, one at a time, to each player, as far as they will go. They need not come out even. The players all look at their cards and discard any pairs they have (a pair is two cards of the same Bible character, such as two James).

The dealer begins. At your turn you must offer your cards spread face down to the player to your left. That player selects a card from your hand without seeing it, and adds it to her hand. If it makes a pair in her hand she discards the pair. The player who just took a card then offers her hand to the next player to her left, and so on.

If you get rid of all your cards you are safe - the turn passes to the next player and you take no further part. Eventually all the cards will have been discarded except one (Judas The Betrayer) and the holder of this card loses.

Breakfast By The Lake: In this game players must answer correctly questions about the Bible story to receive a fish to put on their plate. Be careful not to eat all your fish and have to put all of your fish back. The player that reaches FINISH with the most fish on their plate wins.

Give each player or team a paper plate. Put all fish cards in a pile face up near the game board. Place your marker on START. Players roll the die and move their marker the number indicated on the die. If you land on the picture of an empty fishing net, you have not caught any fish and you must move back 2 spaces. Land on NO FISHING, you lose a turn. If you land on the picture of the fish the player to your left draws a card and reads it out loud. On each card is a question about the story “Breakfast By The Lake” (John 21:1-19). If you answer the question correctly, you receive a fish and you place it on your plate. If you are not correct, you must lose one of your fish and place it back in the fish pile. If a player lands on a picture of fish bones, you ate all your fish and you must put all your fish back in the fish pile. The game continues until all the players have made their way to FINISH. The player with the most fish on their plate is the winner.
