Wanna Know Why Young People Gravitate Toward Dems? Because Conservative Dudes (And Dudettes) Are Prudes!!

I took a test once, it was supposed to evaluate my answers to determine whether I was liberal, very liberal, moderate, conservative or very conservative.

It listed me as very conservative, much to my surprise because I have always considered myself simply moderately conservative. Then again it depends on what questions are used to do the evaluation, yes?

I mean had they asked me if I have a problem with conservative women wearing some revealing clothes, short skirts, maybe showing a little cleavage, I would have said I don't give a rat's ass and might have been evaluated as moderately conservative instead of very conservative.

I digress, sorry....

Now I watch, with dumbfounded amazement, the type of clothes police that I am seeing in the ongoing discussions about the women that participated in CPAC and I thank heavens that while many of the dudes (and some dudettes) are acting like total old-fuddy-duddy prudes, others are providing voices of reason.

I'm not the only one surprised at the level this debate has reached.

What really surprised me was all the debate that has come of this from Melissa Clothier, then Erick Erickson Robert Stacy McCain (twice), Dan Riehl Daily pundit, insty, Little Miss Attila, Lisa Graas and more.

I have no problem with Dr. Melissa Clouthier, in fact I happen to enjoy her work, read her quite often, but when I see her advice to women who wish succeed in the business of politics, I have to wonder, by what right does anyone have to tell another how they are supposed to dress or act?

Women, if you’re at a conference where you’re learning to be a future politician or wish to succeed in the business of politics, dress the part. No, you don’t have to be in a business suit with pearls. However, modesty is a minimum. So:

1. No cleavage. That’s right. Cover that up. I say “no” in absolutist terms because women will show a tiny bit and that’s okay, but really, in a business environment where ideas are the priority, a dude thinking about your ta-tas is counter-productive.

2. Skirts no more than three finger-widths above the knee. Why do I even have to write this? Well, because someone is allowing these girls out of the house with mini-skirts that reveal too much.

3. Save the stilettos for Saturday night on a date with your boyfriend.

4. Bend at the knee. No, I don’t want to see your butt.

Young women, you degrade your own value by dressing and then acting the ho.

Ok, I will give her the bending at the knee thing but the rest? OMG, seriously???????

These are women, conservative women, that for the most part are pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-everything conservative with strong conservative values, yet other conservatives want to tell them what they or shouldn't wear, how they should or shouldn't act, what they should or shouldn't do?

Hello? If they are over 18, that is their choice. If not, then it is their parent's decision.

Are we not the political party that objects strenuously to nanny states telling people what to eat, how to act and wanting to control the masses?

You folks cannot have your cake and eat it too. You cannot act like a nanny yourself then object to nanny states doing the same with their populations.

I choose to dress conservatively, not because it is a "standard" or how I think other people should dress, but because I have the right to determine my fashion (I'm also 47, so well, yeah, moving along) and so do the women of CPAC that are getting a bum rap right now by the fashion police of the conservative party.

Look no further than this one example of many to see why young people gravitate towards the Democratic party and until conservatives understand this and stop being complete prudes in areas that truly are none of our business, we will never get them back into the Republican party.

This has been a public service rant, now back to regularly scheduled political programming.......

Most Hollywood Celebrities May Be Liberal, But Movie-Goers Are Conservative

Patriotism and traditional values, like those displayed in "Thor," "The Artist," "Soul Surfer" and "Hugo," are what moviegoers want, says a group that will honor such films at an awards gala Friday.

Wanna make money in Hollywood? Release patriotic movies that promote conservative values and do not denigrate Christianity.

For two decades, that has been the message that Movieguide has been pushing, and on Friday when it celebrates its 20-year-anniversary with an awards show airing on The Hallmark Channel, the organization will present a 76-page report designed to back up its assertions.

Professor Jacobson's 'Drudge vs History' - Does Establishment Choose or Do Voters?

Professor William A. Jacobson has a must read piece up titled "Drudge vs History, where he shows the panic of the Republican establishment, who until recently thought they had the "Romeny is inevitable" meme locked and loaded and is now in full fledged panic mode after Newt Gingrich blew that meme to hell and back by rising in the polls and taking the South Carolina primaries by a hefty 12 percent margin.

He clearly shows how Ann Coulter, Tom DeLay, Elliot Abrams and Matt Drudge are on a crusade to stop Gingrich's rise so the candidate of their choice, Romney, can gather back some momentum.

I’ll add to that Peter Robinson, former Reagan speechwriter, who wrote the historic Berlin Wall address in which President Reagan urged Mikhail Gorbachev to “tear down this wall!”:

Republican voters can be influenced if the party establishment declares all out war against a candidate as they are doing against Gingrich, but voters should also be allowed and encouraged to see both sides of the issue, all the information available and not be forced toward one candidate or another by those with the loudest voices.

As a quick point to put things into perspective, the loudest voices of the Democratic party are the hard core, extremists, the far left liberals, yet according to Gallup, among Democrats, 29 percent consider themselves liberal and only 10 percent say they are "very" liberal".

51 percent of Republicans consider themselves to be conservative and only 20 percent identify as "very" conservative.

Just as the 10 percent of Democrats should not determine what the Democratic agenda is just because they scream the loudest, the same goes for the conservatives.

The 20 percent, like Coulter, just because they screech with the loudest voice, should not be allowed to determine what candidate is better for the majority of Republicans.

Conservatives Still Largest Ideological Group In The U.S., Liberals The Smallest

For the third straight year Gallup finds conservative ideology to be the largest group in the U.S. with 40 percent of Americans self identifying as having conservative views. 35 percent of Americans identify as moderate and only 21 percent self identify as liberals.

Gallup also finds that among Democrats, 29 percent consider themselves liberal and only 10 percent say they are "very" liberal". Total: 39 percent of Democrats list themselves as liberal.

51 percent of Republicans consider themselves to be conservative and 20 percent identify as "very" conservative. Total: 71 percent of Republicans list themselves as conservative.


The breakdown for Independents is what should concern Democrats in this election cycle.

Independents -- who make up the largest political group in the country -- have been steadier ideologically than either major party group over the last decade. However, since 2008, the proportion describing themselves as moderate has declined slightly, from 46% to 41%, and the proportion who are conservative has increased slightly, from 30% to 35%.

Currently, the largest segment of independents describe their views as moderate, while significantly more identify as conservative than as liberal, 35% vs. 20%.

Recently a CNN Opinion Research poll found that 50 percent of Americans disapproved of the way Barack Obama has handled his job as president. 38 percent of those that disapprove listed the reason as his being "too liberal" and only 9 percent said he wasn't "liberal enough."

Icing on the cake for Republicans is the recent US News and World Report article that states by 2-to-1 Americans fear an Obama reelection:

As we enter the presidential election year of 2012, what potential news event do you fear the most?

President Obama wins reelection 33%

Taxes will increase 31%

Iran will get a nuclear weapon 16%

Obama will lose reelection 16%

North Korea will attack South Korea 4%

All together: A five percent decrease in moderates coupled with a five percent increase in conservatives added together with another recent Gallup poll showing that Barack Obama is seen as the furthest away from American's ideological views than any of the GOP candidates, and Americans listing an Obama reelection as what they fear most, translates into a huge Democratic headache during this presidential election cycle.

USA TODAY/Gallup: Enthusiasm Gap Favors GOP Over Dems By 61% To 47%

Via USA Today, the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Swing States Poll has more bad news for Barack Obama and Democrats as the enthusiasm gap between parties, which favored Democrats in 2008 has swung towards Republicans.

And the "enthusiasm gap" that helped fuel a Democratic victory last time has turned into a Republican asset. Sixty-one percent of Republicans say they are extremely or very enthusiastic about voting for president next year, compared with 47% of Democrats.

Among the most enthusiastic are some of the GOP's core voters: conservatives, middle-aged men and those 50 to 64 years old. Those who are least enthused include core Democratic groups that were critical to Obama's election in 2008, including minorities and younger voters.

Another finding in the poll shows the ideological makeup of America where self identified Conservatives more than double those that self identify as Liberal.

But the nation's ideological makeup creates more stress for Democrats than Republicans. In the 12 swing states identified by USA TODAY, 44% of those surveyed are conservatives, more than double the 21% who call themselves liberal.

To win a majority, the GOP needs to attract the lion's share of conservatives plus only a fraction of the 35% who call themselves moderates.

In contrast, the Democratic candidate has to claim the solid support not only of liberals but also most of the moderates.

By and large, the majority of Conservatives will coalesce behind the GOP nominee once one wins the Republican nomination as the majority of Democrats will unite behind Obama.

Which brings us to a key voting bloc... Independents.

According to Gallup in August of 2011, more Independents consider themselves Conservative than they do Liberal.

By 44% to 35%, more independents are moderate than conservative -- with the percentage conservative continuing to be a notch higher than it was from 2000 to 2008. Another 20% are liberal, similar to the national average. Conservatism among independents increased fairly sharply in 2009, from 30% to 35%, largely explaining the expansion of conservatism nationally at that time, and it has held at that level since then.

With Republicans being more enthused than Democrats, self identified Conservatives doubling Liberals, and a 15% Republican lead over Democrats within the Independent bloc of voters, Barack Obama's reelection prospects continue to dwindle.
