Numbers, jewelry, and a junk story...

Man, I love blogland! It's the best thing ever since the whole junk craze entered my life! Finding new blogs has been very addicting, and reading these junk blogs makes me feel like I've known you all for YEARS! It's great! For example, I actually think Sweet Melissa on this site first found Artsy-Fartsy girl, Janna, and told the other three of us how hilarious she is...and we love the junk she finds. You have no idea how many times I've laughed outloud reading her blog at my desk at work. Oops, did I just say that?

So, while reading her blog a couple weeks ago at home (wink) I see she has these metal numbers for sale...I love numbers and knew I had to have them. I mean, seriously, the 1 & 4 will be adorable on my mantel in February for Valentine's Day. Hello! Cute! OR just the 4 on the 4th of July! Hello! Cute! Then the next day I see this necklace she posted and loved it! So, I emailed her and bam...it was mine! Hello! Cute! So, she sends the great metal numbers to me today, along with the necklace and inside the package is an added bonus: this spoon with JUNK GIRL on it! My blog name! Hello! Cute!
The two charms I already had and I think the three go together well. It's SO me! How did she know?! Please check out her blog by clicking here: http://www.artsyfartsyfinds.blogspot.com. The girl has me in stitches daily with her great humor/stories, and she will you, too. So, today I thought I'd tell you a "funny" story myself, and it just happens to be junk related.

A couple years ago a house in town was being torn down, and word on the street was they were selling everything in it - doors, windows, woodwork, etc. The guy at the house asks me if I am looking for anything in particular and I ask if there were any old cupboards. He tells me there are some, down in the basement. Well, I proceed to follow him down in this dark, damp, smelly basement to find the cupboards were ugly and not at all what I wanted. So, I follow him back upstairs and leave. A few days later I find out the guy is a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER. Oh, nice one! Just dandy. You have to understand: 1) this would only happen to me, and 2) don't tell my husband because he has no idea I was an IDIOT and went in a basement alone with a complete stranger. After the horrific discovery, I unfortunately made the mistake of blurting it to my lovely co-workers who understandably have never let me live it down to this day. No, I wasn't attacked and thank God I evidently wasn't interesting prey. They tell me I would have gone down in that basement even if I had known, since they are aware I have gone to great lengths for junk. Uh, NO!!

Hey, if you've got a great/fun/inspiring or disturbing story (like mine) to tell, please leave a comment. After all, we could all use a good laugh!

Happy December?

Really can it be? Can it really be just 23 days until Christmas? Surely that's not right!! However I know it's true...the facts cannot be ignored! That and our Snowman countdown decoration is up in the kitchen and the kids are more than happy to flip the numbers down to 0!

We had a very nice Thanksgiving..it went all too fast. Kept with our tradition and took the kids to see a movie. This year's choice...Bolt!

I have to admit...it was cute! Really cute and the kids, especially Parker, really liked it. I'd give it a two thumbs up!

We also finally got to watch Walle!

I'll admit..at first I was concerned it would not be good. After all there wasn't really any speaking or anything for quite a bit. But you know..how can you not love Walle and his collection of lighters and his rubix cube and that he likes Hello Dolly...that's the movie right? Parker loved it...although I do wish they had shown a bit more about what happened when they returned to Earth. I realize that was during the credits..but still..we wanted to know. We watched the short film and it was too cute too! So another good one..

I've been busy working working working! I've made some new necklace designs and am waiting for an order of some larger glass that I can't wait to work with! This is my current new favorite..it's named after one of my all time favorite movies ever....French Kiss!!

The orange and aqua...yummy! Like Kate & Luc and the French vineyard! I'm also getting ready for a big event next Monday. I'll share soon if you don't know...it's BIG!

It's short and sweet today...I'll leave you with a new layout I made for ScrapJazz using the adorable Imaginisce Snowy Jo line. Sorry for the photo..the glitter and chipboard made it bulky and messy!!

23 days and counting...

How About Some Jewelry?

My brain has been filled with jewelry lately. First the Lia Sophia party I had and all their beautiful and fun jewelry. Then to the glass pendants I have been busy making. I've seen many people selling them on Etsy and thought why can't I do them? Some of the designs I have seen, just don't appeal to me...so I thought..I'll make some. Here's a link to my Etsy page:

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5073806

The funny thing is when I started looking for designs for the jewelry I was inspired by some of my favorite movies or actors/actresses. The one above is aptly named Chocolat. Doesn't it just feel like the Johnny Depp/Juliet Binoche movie? Others in my store are 50 First Dates, Pretty In Pink and Love Actually. Each movie definitely makes me smile though...so maybe that a good thing for jewelry too!

And then it perfectly tied in with my friend Kim. She just recently created a new website called STL Mommy. It's all about couponing, saving money, freebies, deal and more! She's doing an amazing job and for anyone in the St.Louis and surrounding area..it's really a must go to site. The freebies and other deals though are great for anyone...anywhere! Today she posted a free code for Redbox...so I sent Scott out for the new Indiana Jones movie. We'll make sure the kids get their homework done early and have a family movie night for free! How nice is that. Thanks Kim!

The exciting news is that her website was found online at the local Channel 5 MomslikeMe website and they came out to interview her about her website. It's going to be shown on the Channel 5 news tonight on the 10pm newscast! So be sure to check that out tonight or go on their website tomorrow!

Here's a link to Kim's site:

Last...got to see the new Bond movie and it definitely did not disappoint. I honestly like Daniel Craig as bond. He's a bit more gritty, handsome in a different way then Pierce was. Built fantastic...has amazing blue eyes and I love his accent too.

And anyone who knows me knows I have quite a thing for cars and especially anthing that starts with...Astin Martin. And guns aren't too bad either! I'd give it a B+!

Last be sure to check out the Bo Bunny Blog. Today's post showcases the Beautiful Life collection and I'll be drawing another winner from the comments from this week. Here's a sneak of the basket I made using the line...

That's it for today...
