Poll: Obama's Disapproval Ratings Rising In All Key Areas

By Susan Duclos

If there is one thing a sitting President never wants to see it is his approval ratings down while he is trying to get reelected and his disapproval ratings rising as fast as gas prices are. In a new Washington Post-ABC News Poll, majorities either "somewhat" or "strongly" disapprove of Obama's job performance on gas prices (65%), the federal budget deficit (62%), the economy (59%), and the possibility of Iran obtaining nuclear weapons (52%).

Pluralities disapprove of Obama's performance on Energy and Afghanistan as well.

Obama's overall approval is at 46% with just 28 percent "strongly" approving and 18% "somewhat" approving and his disapproval numbers for his overall job performance show 50 disapproving with 39% "strongly" disapproving and 11% "somewhat" disapproving.

While the Washington Post article written about their poll states "Gas prices are a main culprit," four out the six key issues asked about in the poll had clear majorities disapproving of Obama's job performance and two pluralities disapproving. Not a single issue is Obama's approval higher than his disapproval which is indicative of more than just one single issue dragging him down. So stating that gas prices is the "main" culprit instead of just one aspect of the big picture is slightly misleading.

Gas prices do show the highest level of disapproval though, so Obama's recently reported lobbying of Senate Democrats so they would kill a bill that including approval for Keystone, which the majority of Republicans (84%) and Independents (66%), including a plurality of Democrats (49%), are in favor of, does not bode well for Obama who is once again taking a stance that is polar opposite of what Americans want. (Source- Pew Research, via The Hill)

Despite Obama's lobbying efforts to Democrats to reject the bill, 11 Democratic Senators joined with all Republican Senators but failing to get the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster from Democrats. The vote was 56 to 42 according to the Senate roll call.

[Update] NRO shows the breakdown of respondent's ideology:

The sample for this poll splits 31 percent Democrat, 27 percent Republican, 36 percent Independent.

So, even asking more Democrats than Republicans, Obama's disapproval rating is so high in key areas and 50% overall.

A new low.

What Newt did today was low even by his lousy standards.

He hastily called a news conference to politicize the deaths of two American soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan. Newt used the killing of those poor soldiers to score cheap political brownie points with his base.

Of course, for him, it was a twofer. Bash those evil Mooslims and the Commander in Chief with the evil Mooslim name in one fat swoop. (Pun intended)

" GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said Thursday a U.S. apology to Afghan authorities for burned Qurans on a military base was “astonishing” and undeserved.Gingrich lashed out at President Barack Obama for the formal apology after copies of the Muslim holy book were found burned in a garbage pit on a U.S. air field earlier in the week"

Newt couldn't wait to jump on Obama for apologizing to the Afghans for that inadvertent book burning. There will be more to follow. Mr. Obama, the programmers over at FOX NEWS would like to thank you for giving them some red meat for their voracious viewers.

"The president apologized for the burning, but I haven't seen the president demand that the government of Afghanistan apologize for the killing of two young Americans."

In his rush to be first, Newt forgot that those soldiers were killed after Obama apologized to the President of Afghanistan. I suppose that if Newt or one of his cohorts were running things no apology would be forthcoming. Anger the Afghans even more and put more American lives at risk.

"There seems to be nothing that radical Islamists can do to get Barack Obama's attention in a negative way, and he is consistently apologizing to people who do not deserve the apology of the president of the United States, period," Gingrich said." [Source]

Newt should be apologizing to the families of those two dead soldiers. They will get a phone call from Obama. (If they haven't already) If Newt called, however, I am sure they would just hang up the phone.

Finally, the tape never lies.

If you dumbocrats want to learn how to cheat in politics you might want to start taking notes from your republican friends:

"Yesterday in Wisconsin, a hidden camera caught a certain Republican voter ID law advocate violating the assembly rules to cheat and vote for colleagues who were not present. This is also referred to as vote fraud."

Oh my! You mean to tell me that a republican voter ID law advocate was actually caught cheating, himself? Nooooo! [Source and video tape]

The cheating poli-trickster caught on tape actually looks like he uses Newt's personal trainer. Hey, maybe the guy was just reaching for a donut.

DAN HOLDSWORTH: Afghan mystery cats

Jon,

I saw this blog post from a war correspondent who has extensively covered Afganistan. Apparently there have long been rumoursof very large cats in Kandahar province of Afganistan, which the locals usually laughed off as mere supposition. However, when the US soldiery started seeing these cats on night vision and even thermal imaging kit (the US Army has some quite incredible technology these days) they were taken seriously. Here are photos of one such cat.

Breaking "Man Rules".

I can't figure out who is crazier, the wack job pastor who burned the Koran at his church, or the lunatics in Afghanistan and Pakistan who are killing and maiming people because he did it. Maybe we should send the good Pastor to Afghanistan to act as our Ambassador over there. Dope!

Anyway, tonight I want to take a little break from the serious stuff, and ask some of you reading this to give some relationship advice to my man Steve Nash. Steve is a superstar b-ball player in the NBA, and he is....I take that back. He was married to a supermodel. (His first mistake.) Now, apparently, the rumor is that Steve filed for a divorce immediately after seeing his blushing baby boy, Mateo. Well, actually, the next day. I guess he needed some time for the shock to set in.

The following excerpt is from Yardbarker.com. "Here is a quick look at the Steve Nash baby situation before I tell you the new rumors. Steve Nash and his wife had a third baby, Matteo, in November 2010. The next day after the birth, Steve Nash filed for divorce from his wife. Rumors began to swirl that his new baby turned out to be black, which neither Nash or his wife are racially.

Rumors for a couple of month have been that Leandro Barbosa was the father, but that was soon proven false due to Nash posting pictures of Barbosa and him with Barbosa's real kid on Facebook.

Here is the scoop and hot rumor that has begun today. Jason Richardson is now the player in question to be the father of Matteo. Back in December, a month after the birth, Jason Richardson became an ex-teammate of Steve Nash when he was shipped to Orlando in a multi-player deal. Alejandra, Steve Nash's ex-wife, says that the divorce is not from the children and that her and Nash were separated for a couple of months before the birth..." [Source]

This reminds me of another story that came out late last year. Apparently one of LeBron's teammates when he was in Cleveland was doing some one on one drills with his mom, and that was one of the reasons that my man gave the Cavs his tail lights to look at. Oh, and let's not forget that debonair Frenchman, Tony Parker, and his off court work with a teammate's wife.

Now if these stories are true, this is definitely not cool. That is a "man rule" that you just don't break. I mean getting it on with your teammate's wives and mothers? Come on now, all these groupies out here and these guys choose to get their jiggy in house. *shaking head*

I guess I am just old fashion. Even among us regular folks -who aren't high profile athletes- It should be taboo to hit on your friends significant other. Some things you just don't do.

But hey, maybe that saying "all is fair in love and war" is true.

Thoughts?
