A REWARD is being offered for the return of valuable jewellery stolen during a burglary in Blackheath village on Wednesday (August 31).

Thieves broke into a house in Littleford Lane between 7.30am and 5.30pm and took around £35,000 worth of jewellery and trinkets.

Among the items were a heavy, white and yellow gold chain of Greek origin with faceted links, a ladies' Rolex watch with champagne dials (model 179163) and a silver and ceramic Art Deco dressing table set.

Also stolen was a gold-coloured turtle encrusted with imitation stones, worth only £20 but with great sentimental value, and the owners have offered a reward for the safe return of their property.

Detective Constable Jackie Green, investigating the incident, said: "This was a high value burglary where thieves have escaped with several thousands of pounds of jewellery. The jewellery obviously has huge sentimental value for the victims and they are so desperate to get it back that they have offered a reward in exchange for its safe return.
