Summer Diary Day 75: Paper Mache Part 3

Dear summer diary,
Let the messiness begin! The girls & I covered our doggie with the first layer of paper mache. For years I've used a paste of flour & water when paper mache-ing. Just mix it to a really thick creamy consistency. Tear long strips of newspaper & dip into mixture. Squeegie off the excess by letting it slide between your two fingers as you pull it through with your other hand. (You can also used watered down elmer's glue/Mod Podge.)
It's so hot outside that we had to do the project inside. Messy, messy, messy. The project is outside drying right now. We plan on doing several layers---drying thoroughly between each layer.
Tonight the girls & I are off on a firefly adventure. They've never seen fireflies in real life. A few weeks ago, I wrote a newspaper column about fireflies & a gentleman contacted me & said he has them on his property. We're heading over there tonight with our nets & jars on the ready!! Can't wait!

Nikki
