Junky Fall Wreath...

Are you anything like me and love wreaths? I mean LOVE them? For some weird reason I gotta have them hung up for whatever season is in season. A couple years ago in the grocery store I bought this one for $4. (Okay, and is it weird I always remember exactly what I paid for stuff?)

I fell in love with this large, fabulous wooden pulley I got as a junk gift (a/k/a free!) from a farmer last summer. I knew way back then I wanted to hang a wreath from it.

(Again, is it weird to think and ponder on obscure things for like, an entire year?!)I knew the wreath needed to attach underneath the hook somehow as not to cover up the cool pulley. Plus, if I just hung it on the pulley it would fall off. So, out came my trusty wire cutter. No fear. I knew I could wire the wreath back together once it was "strung" through the hole where the hook attaches to the pulley.

Whew.

That was a mouthful.To the pulley a brass coin thingy was added with a dab of Gorilla glue for a little "zip".The finished project. See, you can't even tell it's been wired back together.A girl could go crazy and clip-on miniature Indian corn, a burlap bow, etc., but I decided to leave it as-is since there's enough going on:

It appears Halloween EXPLODED here!

It looks awesome lit up at night though!

Oh, and another thing...I am a number freak! What do you think of the LARGE old metal gas station numbers? Dang. I once saw these used as chargers under glass plates on a table scape!

(I am SO gonna use that idea someday!)

It's beginning to look alot like AUTUMN...

Happy Weekend! Last night's high school football game was a great reminder that AUTUMN is here and in full force! The evening was crisp and clear (no wind - yeah!), the football field lights burned bright against the evening sky, and the smell of a burning wood stove in a nearby neighborhood filled the air. I truly adore the season of FALL. It really got me in the mood to FINALLY dig out my fall decorations!

On a recent junk jaunt, I picked up this adorable gage. Cute, huh? I thought this basket of fall leaves and Indian corn needed a little embellishing...

I've had this single sunflower for years. I think last year it sat under a cloche, but this year I hung it off center on an old crib frame and sat it on the mantel above the fireplace.

I like the graphic look of it. I just know my almost 16 year old will have something to say about a crib piece on the mantel, but I'll just remind him his job is to focus on FOOTBALL - not my decorating ideas!

Okay...I have ALOT more to dig out, so I better get my butt back to work. There'll be lots of fall and Halloween decor to come. I haven't usually gone all-out for Halloween before, but in the thrift store I happily found some great fake "web" for 39 cents a bag and have a fun idea for it - so stay tuned!

Happy Halloween! No tricks here....just wanted to share some pics of my fall/Halloween decor....AND a recipe for some yummy pumpkin cookies I found last night!
Below are some "faux" mini pumpkins I painted white and stained.

Here's a fun little trick-or-treater I found at the Paris Streetmarket in Colorado last fall.

White Chocolate Pumpkin

Cookies

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 cup butter

1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 cup solid pack pumpkin puree

2 eggs

1 Tbsp. vanilla extract

2 cups white chocolate chunks or chips

1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, pumpkin pie spice & soda.

In a medium bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Beat in pumpkin puree. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add in the flour mixture until combined. Stir in the white chocolate and pecans. Drop by rounded tablespoons (2 inches apart) on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for 20-22 minutes until set.

Don't forget daylight savings time ends this weekend! Set your clocks back an hour!
