Well, you might ask, what have we here? Has the woman gone bezique for Schnibbles? Well, more than one woman has had a serious case of Schnibbles over the past couple of years, judging from the blogs. But not me. I've never made one. Never even bought a pattern. I just don't have a lot of call for mini-quilts or for wall hangings.
But, y'know, neither am I one for not exploring a popular fad -- one never knows how it will turn out. I'm so enjoying my Summer Hours at work and the sewing time it affords me at home. And I decided that this summer I would try some new things. By gum, I'm going to attempt freezer paper applique. And going to paper piece at least one block. And make a Schnibble.
Not knowing really where to start with this last, I put out a call to the White Oak crowd to see if anyone had a Schnibble pattern she would lend me. Pat -- yup, that Pat -- showed up on Saturday night with this vast assortment for me to choose among. And she alleges that these are just some of her vast Schnibblerabilia. I've picked out one to start with.
And next weekend I'm going to be visiting a different quilt shop, one I've never been to, and on my shopping list is a charm pack or two and the additional fabric needed for my belated foray into Schnibbleville. If you are a Schnibbler, leave me a comment telling me what you like about 'em. And if you do not Schnibble, by gosh, leave me a comment telling me why! And I'll draw a number on Wednesday and pick up a charm pack for you, too, so we can Schnibble on together later in the month.
ADDENDUM on Wednesday, July 6, 2011: I had said I would draw a number today, but have decided to wait until Saturday for very good reason to be revealed in due time. Comments are now closed for this post. Thanks to the many people who entered.
